Breast Reduction

Breast reduction performed by an aesthetic and plastic surgery specialist is thought to have a low risk of complications. Postoperative bleeding and wound healing issues can occur with any surgical operation. Swelling and minor bruising are other common side effects of this medication. Skin sensation around the nipple after a breast reduction may be reduced depending on the size of the treatment.

Not only is pain after a breast reduction inconvenient, but it also raises blood pressure, increasing the risk of postoperative hemorrhage. In this case, I advise taking painkillers up to three times a day. As a result, patients are able to resume their normal activities very immediately following a breast reduction.

I advise my patients to calm down softly after a breast reduction, take it easy, and sleep on their backs with their heads lifted to prevent breast swelling.

You should avoid sleeping on your stomach or side for the first few days after your breast reduction. Patients say that sleeping on their backs with their heads lifted is the most pleasant position for them. After 14 days, though, everything is permitted. If laying on your side is restricted owing to tenderness from current swelling, your body will let you know.

From the day of the procedure, you can shower and wash your hair again after a breast reduction.

The treatment of a scar after a breast reduction is similar to the treatment of a scar in general. For about a year, I recommend not exerting any tension on the scar and avoiding UV radiation (sun, solarium) in the area around the scar. Rapid healing is aided by a specific scar massage.
